I have actually signed up to talk to or visit local families. I know that I would have loved that. Sitting in the hospital while Charlie was still in Cardiac ICU, I felt very alone and clueless about everything. No one should ever have to feel alone.
Mended Little Hearts has many chapters throughout the US. As a member (it's free), you can connect in-person, on the telephone, or on the internet. They offer many services such as: visiting programs, educational resources, and social events. These are amazing resources and I wish we had known about them when Charlie was a baby. The closest group to us is about an hour away. You can find out if there is a Mended Little Hearts group in your area. I'm looking into starting a group in Delaware.
You can stay connected to Mended Little Hearts on Facebook.
They are currently doing a Rock Your Scar contest through Instagram with #RockYourScar. Check out this awesome contest with all these little heroes! Contest ends 2/13/14
If you'd like, you can vote for my little rock star, Charlie.

Awww, that is a great way to make kids feel like their scars are special rather than something that they want to hide. I love this contest.
ReplyDeleteI am definitively getting on this one. Love the contest idea! Let's rock all those little scars!
