We've been having a very cold and miserable winter here in Maryland. With the new baby, it's hard for us to get out anyway. Here's a basic playdough recipe you can make to keep your little ones (or big ones) entertained.
You will need:
- a non-stick pot
- 2 cups of baking soda
- 1 1/2 cup of water
- 1 cup of corn starch
- food coloring (optional)
Directions:
- Mix the ingredients until smooth
- Boil until thick
- The whole procedure takes about 5 minutes!

| Put all ingredients in a pot |

| Cook and stir on medium high |
 |
| It should boil until it's thick |
 |
| looks like mashed potatoes, but I wouldn't eat it |
 |
| Take out of pot carefully- STILL HOT! |
 |
| I put 8 drops of food coloring in each section. Use more or less depending on the color you want. |

I've made this before and my kids love it. It doesn't have that wonderful smell that that store bought stuff had, though ;)

ReplyDeleteMy niece goes through play-doh like it was candy, she doesn't actually eat it but she leaves it out or gets things in it etc. I'm going to pass this along to my sister-in-law so maybe it can save them some money lol

Should last about a week. Just keep it in the fridge. When it looks like it's drying out, just work it a bit.

ReplyDeletethis recipe is my first memory of playdoh--my mom used to make this for us/me. i use this recipe for my daughter, but i also use a quick/easy one - cornstarch and cheap dollar store hair conditioner. smells good, lasts a few days, and is like moon dough. :)
