Learning about Noah’s Ark with VeggieTales

Thanks to Family Christian for providing us a screener to watch and a certificate to give away. Affiliate links are included.

We love when a new VeggieTales movie comes out! Both boys love VeggieTales (and mom and dad don’t mind them either). We were able to see Noah’s Ark before it’s even in stores!

VeggieTales Noah's Ark

VeggieTales has done it again! The VeggieTales take of the story of Noah is just like any other VeggieTales movie: bright, funny, full of songs and carries an important lesson.

Spaceship Building and Pop Secret Space Bar Snack

Thanks to Pop Secret for sponsoring this post.

It is snowing here today (expecting up to 4 inches) and we’re spending the day inside building a spaceship. Some kids build forts, but we build spaceships and rocket ships. To go along with our spaceship building, we made a yummy snack using Pop Secret. Because you know… snacks make everything better.

Try this recipe for Pop Secret Space Popcorn Bars! #PopSecretForts #ad

While Charlie was working on building his spaceship, I got the Pop Secret Caramel Popcorn going.

Hours of Entertainment with Sticky Mosaics

We received product in exchange for this post, but all opinions are my own. Affiliate links may be included.

As you all know by now, Charlie loves all things artsy. There are a few things that we can pull out that will actually entertain him for an extended period of time. We’re always on the lookout for more of these types of activities.

Sticky Mosaics from Orb Factory have proved to be one of these activities that can truly entertain him for hours. Charlie will sit down at the table and really focus on what he is doing. We love projects like this that calm him down and focus.

Playtime Fun with GALT Toys

We received product in exchange for this post, but all opinions are my own. Affiliate links are included.

I don't think that playtime should always be educational. While I know some people do, I think kids should be able to just run around and be crazy sometimes. With that being said, I do believe that education is an important aspect of play. We've found some great products from GALT Toys that really bring out the fun, but sneak a little learning in there too.

As you know, Charlie is really working on his alphabet skills at preschool (and home) and loves anything he can do with them!

Get Creative with Crayola for the Holidays

We received product in exchange for this post, but all opinions are my own. Affiliate links are included.

We all think about Crayola for back-to-school supplies and those giant packs of crayons, but do you think about giving Crayola products for Christmas?

Creative Holiday with Crayola

Charlie loves crafts, coloring and all things artsy. We try to give him gifts that can really be used and allow his imagination to go crazy. He'll be getting a box of Crayola goodies to restock his craft drawer.

Learning Fun with LeapTV from LeapFrog

We received product through MommyParties and LeapFrog, but all opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links.

When I first saw LeapFrog’s new gaming system, LeapTV, I was a bit hesitant. I’ve always been a bit of a gamer and Tom is as well. We have a couple of game systems already that have the power to let you interact by movement via camera.

I’m really glad we gave this a shot!

The LeapTV is listed on all of the hot lists for the holidays this year. It’s the cool new game system for kids that teaches letters, numbers, shapes, math, colors, reading and so much more. If you have other LeapFrog products, you know they put out some awesome educational toys. This is right up there with the rest of them.

Our okiedog Diaper Bag: Baby & Preschooler

I received our new bag from okiedog in exchange for this review, but all opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links.

With two little boys now, it seems like getting ready to get out the door takes longer than the actual errand. Charlie is now pretty much potty-trained and Owen is (obviously) still in diapers. We’ll be carrying a diaper bag around for quite awhile.

The Damask-Metro Messenger Diaper Bag is really cute, which is always a plus in my book! I don’t want to carry a diaper bag that looks like a kid’s bag with cartoon characters and kid designs on it. I believe those should be saved for the kids to carry. We got the white bag, which is gender neutral enough that I can use it like a purse, but my husband can also carry the diaper bag around without feeling uncomfortable. We all know how those men are!

Books to Read Before Starting Preschool

This post contains affiliate links.

Last night I went to a meeting at Charlie’s Preschool. I think he’ll be good to go and he’s super excited already. When I was working, Charlie went to daycare about once a month during the school year and once a week during the summer. He loved it and I know he’ll love going to preschool. Preschool for Charlie will be 2.5 hours a day twice a week. Although it’s not a daily thing, it’s definitely going to be a big change for him to have a schedule now.

Before preschool starts, we’re checking out some of these books to help with the change and prepare for preschool to start.

I know it seems like summer just started, but soon enough kids will be heading back to school. This fall, Charlie will start Pre-School at the church two days a week, two and a half hours a day. It’s a great start for him.

Although he won’t need a lunch bag this year, zulily has some pretty awesome lunch and snack supplies. Look how cute some of this stuff is. There’s definitely something for your pre-schooler up through the college years!

Barney: A Super-Dee-Duper Day & Giveaway

I was provided a DVD for my review. All opinions are my own.

My sister loved Barney growing up and I think it’s fun that Charlie does now too. I must say that 20 years later, I like Barney much more!

When Barney: A Super-Dee-Duper Day arrived in the mail, Charlie was so excited to see a baseball on the front!

Summer is in full-swing and Barney and his friends are celebrating the summer with in the all-new movie Barney: A Super-Dee-Duper Day available only on DVD July 15, 2014 from Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment.

Rachel & the TreeSchoolers need your help

To be completely honest, Charlie watches entirely too much tv. Kids these days are exposed to way more screen time than we were growing up. Here’s the kicker: Did you know that only 1 in 8 kids shows are “highly educational”?

Rachel Coleman created Signing Time with her sister Emilie. She has been nominated for an Emmy for her work on the show, which airs on public television, Nick Jr. and Netflix.

Rachel is now bringing you a family-funded program, making smart kids smarter: Rachel & the TreeSchoolers.

TreeSchoolers

About Rachel & the TreeSchoolers

It is based on a complete preschool curriculum, preparing children for kindergarten. This is a show that actively engages children in learning using their favorite things: signs, games, songs, and dance. Rachel & the TreeSchoolers teaches children HOW to learn with the CORI Method (wonder, ask, learn, share).
