Join Seventh Generation and #FightToxins

*This post is sponsored by Seventh Generation. I was compensated, but opinions are my own.*

As a mom with a child who has a Congenital Heart Defect, I can’t help but be concerned with the amount of toxic chemicals in our environment. These toxic chemicals are found in our everyday products. Think about what you use to clean your child’s toys, sheets, dishes, or your kitchen counters. Do you know what is in them? Did you know that of the 85,000 synthetic chemicals introduces into the market since the Toxic Substances Control Act was passed in 1976, the EPA has required testing on less than 10%?

300 toxins before birth

Seventh Generation, a company that makes products for everyday use from plant-based derivatives, is working to push a reform on TSCA which would have all of these chemicals
studied, evaluated and tested. The TSCA has not been updated since 1976!

Scientists have linked exposure to toxic chemicals to many health risks, such as Cancer, Alzheimer’s, learning disabilities, asthma, birth defects, and various reproductive problems!

Toxic chemicals may lead to cancer

My son was born with a heart defect. Is this because of toxic chemicals? I have no idea. They say it’s not genetic and we have no idea what causes most Congenital Heart Defects. However, if we can do something about the chemicals we are exposed to, maybe we can start to eliminate some of these defects.

How You Can Help

Seventh Generation is looking for YOUR help! They are trying to collect 100,000 signatures on a petition asking Congress to make the reforms.

If we collect 100,00 signatures:

  • The Toxin Freedom Fighters will deliver them to
    Congress on April 30, 2014
  • The signatures will strengthen the movement behind
chemical reform, and will encourage decision-makers
    to change the necessary laws
  • Seventh Generation will spread awareness about the
37 year-old TSCA and starts conversations about how it
fails to protect the health of the general public

If we take the right steps, our children can live a better, cleaner, toxin-free life.

Please go sign the petition and help Seventh Generation #FightToxins!
