I can’t believe our kid-free trip to Myrtle Beach was almost a month ago! While we were there, we spent an afternoon at the Boardwalk. Although we’ve been to the boardwalk with the kids, this time was very different!
I won a trip from Purex Insiders and Crown Reef Resort, but all opinions are our own.
We just got back from an amazing 4 nights away! When was the last time you went away without the kids? For us, it had been since our honeymoon (a little over 4 years ago).
Instead of that long drive (which we just took 3 weeks prior with the boys), we flew from BWI to Myrtle Beach. I didn’t even realize MB had an airport, but they do! It’s small and cute, but has everything you need. The Crown Reef Resort shuttle picked us up from baggage claim and dropped us off at the resort check-in. I was a little nervous about arriving so early in the morning (10am) and that our room wouldn’t be ready, but after just about 10 minutes, we were handed our keys and off we went!
While we were on vacation in Surfside Beach, we (of course) had a rainy day. If it were just Tom and I, that would be a welcomed inside day of movies and naps. To anyone with little ones, it’s a small panic attack.
After our breakfast and some lounge time, we headed to Fun Warehouse. During the week, they don’t open until 12, which kind of bummed me out.
The first thing we decided to do was play in the soft play area and the inflatables.

As a family with two little boys, I feel like we’re constantly on-the-go. If we’re not going to playdates, we’re dropping of or picking up from preschool. Add in our zoo trips and family gatherings, it feels like we’re always going somewhere.

We had a fantastic vacation and enjoyed our much needed family time!
Tomorrow morning we’ll be driving to Surfside Beach in South Carolina for our family vacation! From our house, it’s about a 9 hour drive straight through. With the boys, we expect it to take about 12 due to stops. For a 3 year old and a 10 month old, that’s a really long and boring drive. For the parents, it’s not much better. We’ll have the dvd player with us, but want other ways of keeping the boys happy along the way.

Here’s the kicker. Two weeks ago, we paid for our family vacation to Myrtle Beach (we actually stay in Surfside, just south of MB) that we’ll take the second week of September.
Myrtle Beach has remained one of my favorite vacation spots. We went with my family when I was younger and now my husband and I take our own family.
When we visit Myrtle Beach this year, we’ll be visiting the Ripley’s Aquarium. When we went in 2012, Charlie was too young to enjoy it, but this year- he’ll be 3.5 when we go. There’s definitely something for everyone in Myrtle Beach.

I grew up going to Ocean City, MD during the summer. We would ride our bikes on the boardwalk, eat a donut at a shop no longer there, then spend the day at the beach. I still love OC, MD because it immediately brings back all those warm fuzzy feelings from my childhood. I hope that we can create some of those same feelings in our boys.
Even though we went for just an overnight trip at the end of March, there were plenty of people at the beach. It was a beautiful Saturday: sunny and in the low 70s.
We found a great Groupon a couple months ago for an overnight at the Francis Scott Key Family Resort in Ocean City, MD.
My husband works for a company that does seasonal business. Well, the season is getting ready to go full force, meaning less family time for us for awhile. We scheduled our night away knowing it would be the kick-off of less daddy time.
We stayed in the Carolina building, which is about a minute walk from the Caribbean Key indoor pool.
